The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Alright, so we’ve all heard of this popular read aloud “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”, a super cute kids’ book by Eric Carle. It’s all about this little caterpillar that’s always hungry. Seriously, it munches through all kinds of food, like apples, pears, chocolate cake, you name it. And it keeps getting bigger and bigger!

But then, surprise, surprise, it starts feeling kinda sick from eating too much. So, it wraps itself up in a cocoon for a while. And guess what? It comes out as a beautiful butterfly! Talk about a great book to teach lessons in a fun and engaging way, right?

Why we LOVE The Very Hungry Caterpillar!

With its colorful pictures and simple story, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” teaches kids about how caterpillars turn into butterflies, why it’s good to eat in moderation, and all that jazz. It’s an adorable classic that’s been a favorite of parents, teachers and kids for years because it is both educational and engaging!

Reading aloud daily to children has so many benefits! If you are looking for a way to improve reading comprehension or retelling skills with your class, we found the perfect story companion activities and teaching resources!
