Pumpkin Life Cycle Craft

Are you looking for a creative craft to supplement your science unit on pumpkins? If so, I then you will LOVE this lunch bag mini-book. It’s a fun October project, a science activity and an interactive brown bag book to read all in one! Not only is it fun to make and engaging for your students, but it’s a great way to teach and review fall life cycles.  This craft is about the life cycle of a pumpkin!

I love paper bag journals. My students have used them for nature observation–sketching plants, insects, trees, etc…Then they collect little "treasures" in the bag part–acorns, a nice rock, etc… I would love to win yours, as we are studying pumpkins now. Have you seen the old VHS "Pumpkin Circle"? It's really fun and entertaining, and contains many facts about the pumpkin cycle.

This paper bag book is great! I used to make them when I had time for scrapbooking and I love the idea of using them in the classroom!! Great job, Jeannine!

Another fun topic might be life cycles??? Or, winter holidays? The possibilities are endless!!

Haven't tried this kind of project yet, but I love the idea…and my second graders love to make things…they don't even realize they are learning!

I have never tried the brown bag projects, but would love to try it out. I am new to second grade this year – after 19 years of teaching the upper grades. I love it but am scrambling to collect materials and ideas that are just right for 2nd. Thanks!

My daughter has made lunch bag books made with pictures to give as keepsakes, but I never thought of using them in school. What a brilliant idea! I would love to see how you used it to do the pumpkin life cycle.
